FREE GAS SAVING TIPS:
1. Keep your tires inflated to their maximum air pressure. This helps the car roll easier with less drag. It is also better for your tires.
2. Fill up your gas tank early in the week. The price of gas goes up at the end of the week and stays up for the weekend when useage is normally greater.
3. Keep your gas tank as full as possible as often as possible. Believe it or not gas evaporates, the more space in the tank the more room there is for evaporation to take place. (Plus mentally it's a lot easier to pay for half a tank than a full tank!)
4. Plan your route with RIGHT hand turns and as many errands or stops as possible per trip. UPS was able to save over $3,000,000 in gas annually by planning their drivers routes with as many right hand turns as they could. It eliminates the drivers from having to wait to make a left hand turn and burn more fuel.
5. Avoid jack rabbit starts. The majority of poor gas mileage comes from getting your car up to speed. The knucklehead who rides your bumper or passes you only to be waiting at the next stoplight just burned up a ton of gas to get no further than you.
6. Keep your windows rolled up. Your car was designed to be as aerodynamic as possible to reduce wind drag. Opening your windows is almost like throwing out little parachutes to catch the air. Your car will be more fuel efficient with the windows up and the air conditioning on than it will be with the wnidows down.
7. Take advantage of our monthly special and improve your gas mileage as much as 5 to 8 miles per gallon. |
